ABOUT JACK WILLIAMSON

I currently am Executive Vice Principal with strategic responsibility for safeguarding and attendance for Springwell Learning Community Lincolnshire; which is a collection of Alternative Academies based in Lincolnshire within Wellspring Academy Trust. In addition to my Executive role, I also have operational responsibility for Springwell Alternative Academy Mablethorpe - where I am the Designated Safeguarding Lead. I have recently completed by NPQH after successfully being appointed to the role of Associate Principal, after completing The Difference Leadership Programme. I began teaching in 2011 after completing a BA (Hons) and PGCE in Physical Education at Edge Hill University. I spent the first 10 years of my career in a mainstream academy, where I was able to develop my understanding of pedagogy and teaching & learning through a plethora of roles including; Lead Teacher, Head of Department, Head of Faculty, and most recently as an Assistant Principal.Whilst in mainstream I found that he had a natural affinity to work with those students who struggled with forming relationships with their teachers. I developed a keen interest in understanding how the current education system manages to still fail 1 in 6 children, and how collective systemic change is needed. By joining Wellspring Academy Truat I have been able to broaden and deepen my understanding of how education can become more inclusive for all.In 2018 I was awarded the Golden Apples Education Awards \"Secondary Teacher/Lecturer of the Year\", and in the same year, I was a silver finalist for the Pearsons Teacher of the Year awards.
