As Head of Careers and Futures, I am responsible for shaping and implementing the service strategy, setting objectives that align with institutional goals, and leading day-to-day operations. My role ensures the delivery of high-quality, impactful careers guidance and employability support, fostering strong links with employers and stakeholders while driving initiatives that enhance student outcomes and graduate success:• Driving the University’s strategy for embedding career-related learning and employability within the curriculum. Building relationships with Faculties across the institution to place employability at the heart of the student learning experience.• Championing practice-based learning and authentic assessments through real world employer consultancy projects, live briefs and case studies.• Leading an action-oriented Graduate Outcomes and alumni employability strategy that brings about; improved engagement with the survey and positive destination outcomes.• Line managing x6 Faculty Consultants, x2 Practice-Based Learning Leads, and x1 Alumni Engagement Officer, agreeing annual objectives and monitoring performance within agreed target metrics.• Overseeing day-to-day management of the on-campus and online student support provision for students across campus.• Building relationships, managing and co-ordinating a portfolio of external employer networks and partnerships, monitoring and communicating employer / partner expectations to service colleagues, faculties and other senior stakeholders.• Establishing and managing a service events team and successfully delivering an agreed calendar of events and subsequent evaluation and reporting to the University Executive team.• Producing accurate, complete and consolidated management information on student and staff activities on a regular and frequent (monthly) basis.

A proven leader of a high-performing team, with a strong track record of transforming careers service provision and delivery within Higher Education; including devising tailored in-curriculum interventions and setting up a centralised university-wide support offer. Previous experience includes contract management and delivering careers guidance and employability skills development programmes within schools, colleges and the local community.Areas of Expertise & Achievements:• Devised and launched the award winning ‘Careers and Employability Curriculum’ within Middlesex University as a flexible, accessible way for academic colleagues to embed progressive employability and practice-based modules within taught programmes. Recipient of the Teaching Excellence Award (May 2024)• Founder of Gradstock careers and employment festival (‘the careers fair with a twist’), attended by over students and 300 industry guests since launch in 2018.
