WORK HISTORY
Regulatory Affairs Advisor @Seafish
Grimsby, GB
Key achievements so far include the delivery of sector-wide support concerning regulations that affect the exportation of seafood from the UK, particularly to the EU. I am the Secretary of the Seafish Trade Facilitation Forum and have worked closely with government to plan responses to UK-EU regulatory divergences. More recently, I have - alongside colleagues - been working to support industry following the UK and EU’s commitment in May 2025 to a Sanitary and Phytosanitary Agreement. I meanwhile lead our work to support the sector in response to new domestic regulations of packaging and waste; I have organised and delivered industry-wide workshops on the Plastic Packaging Tax and Extended Producer Responsibility for packaging, which has supported seafood business operators’ understanding of the requirements and enabled them to communicate to government their sector-specific concerns. Additional achievements in this space include the production of bespoke written guidance, and the delivery of one-to-one support for businesses where requested, to further aid sector-wide compliance.Key responsibilities include establishing effective relationships with the seafood sector and regulators to facilitate a smooth trading environment and swift resolution of any compliance issues as they arise, developing and maintaining contacts with other food and drink sector representatives to share information and collaborate when necessary, providing insight to the Seafish Industry Engagement Managers (to ensure UK-wide coverage of regulatory support), and providing independent advice and guidance on seafood regulation to industry and government. In addition to my work as a Regulatory Affairs Advisor, I have - as a member of Seafish’s Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) Project Group - contributed to the development of our organisation’s first D&I strategy and was involved in planning and delivering an internal training session on neurodiversity awareness and celebration.
