Specialist on the Western Front 19••••18, with particular expertise relating to the old German Army. Author of seven major books: The German Army on the Somme (2005), The German Army at Passchendaele (2007), The German Army on Vimy Ridge (2008), The German Army at Cambrai (2009), The German Army at Ypres 19••••10), The German Army on the Western Front 19••••12) and The German Army in the Spring Offensives of 1917 (Arras, Aisne and Champagne)(2015). Six guidebooks concerning operations during the Great War at Le Cateau, Thiepval, Beaumont Hamel, Vimy Ridge 1917 and Ypres 1914 (Langemarck and Messines) complete my published work to date. Another guide to Ypres 1914 (Menin Road) will be published soon and I have begun work on several other projects, including a full length analysis of German command and control on the Somme 1916.I provide expert specialist guidance and assistance to programme makers, researchers and project managers. I am currently taking bookings now for centenary events through to 2018 and am available for lectures, presentations, seminars and battlefield guiding.
