ABOUT JACK SHARP
As Head of Training at Heliguy™, I oversee the delivery of compliant, operationally focused drone training for organisations across defence, emergency services, infrastructure, and specialist commercial sectors. My background includes extensive hands-on experience flying and instructing on a wide range of UAS platforms, with practical application in surveying, inspection, surveillance, and aerial cinematography. I regularly work with Public Safety, and Search & Rescue teams, providing practical flight training and instruction, capability demonstrations, and operational support to help them integrate drones into fast paced, real world environments. I also support the MOD and other government partners, ensuring the secure and compliant use of aircraft, sensors, and data systems, and advising on both capability deployment and technology rollout. Alongside training delivery, I support organisations in selecting the right equipment for their operational needs, guiding them through platform options and directing them into our procurement process when a full UAS solution is required. I am a qualified DJI Dock Engineer, enabling me to install, configure, maintain, and repair automated Dock systems for both VLOS and BVLOS operations. I contributed to Heliguy’s heavy-lift Operational Safety Case, taking part in early trials of the DJI FlyCart 30 and delivering proof-of-concept demonstrations for Search & Rescue teams and national infrastructure clients to validate operational use cases. I also operate the Skygauge Robotics NDT platform for non-destructive testing across oil, gas, and industrial environments, supporting both trial phases and live project delivery. In addition to field work, I manage and develop Heliguy’s instructor team, ensuring safety, competency, and delivery standards are consistently met. I also produce photography, video content, and online learning material to enhance engagement across our training programmes. Professional, calm under pressure, and confident whether on site, in the classroom, or presenting to Clients and senior leadership, I combine technical expertise with a people focused approach, helping organisations adopt drone technology safely, effectively, and with long-term operational value.
