I help leaders develop strategies for their organizations, implement them, and achieve great results, as leaders of Partner4Work, the Employment and Training Administration, and the Mississippi Community College Board say (see Projects below).Greater business vitality, expanded employment of non-traditional candidates, improved job quality and reduced turnover, strengthened diversity and inclusion, and better employee engagement, development, and advancement – these are some of the results organizations have achieved.Working with Smart Future Strategy means Having a partner who will analyze your desired results or guide your team to analyze them, and who will co-design innovative, customized workforce strategies you can count on to achieve your desired results and bring to bear my expertise in best practices and relevant public policy. Having support for implementation; designing metrics, building customized tools, carrying out organizational development, and building staff capacity. Some organizations want workforce strategies that leverage economies of scale while reducing risk and cost. If yours does, Smart Future Strategy’s deep experience with labor market based, industry-focused multi-employer approaches will provide a roadmap. I am deeply interested in the success factors for effective industry partnerships. Experience shows the importance of long-term local or regional collaborations that provide high-quality communication among industry stakeholders, as I note in “To Fill Jobs in a Tight Labor Market, Employers May Need to Get Creative,” a Wall Street Journal article published in the print edition and online February 15, 2018.Since policy and funding have an important effect on organizations’ and industries’ success, I make recommendations that draw from and support effective experience. For example, I recently co-authored a section of 9 Steps to Revitalize America\'s Manufacturing Communities, published on-line by The Century Foundation.
