ABOUT JACK JENSEN

My passion is building and supporting innovation that makes our world a better place and creates value for Canadians. This starts with people - any organization\'s greatest asset. I am a firm believer in the power of a corporate culture that empowers people to be their best. In my role at the CanmetENERGY lab I am supporting the healthy functioning of our research teams to deliver clean technology solutions for Canadian competitiveness in critical industrial sectors.I am constantly reshaping my skills and competencies to meet new challenges and I am a firm believer in the merits of open and innovative corporate environments. I am an enthusiast in the pursuits I choose.Over the past 19 years at Natural Resources Canada. I have been fortunate to work in many areas of science and research: management, R&D, grants and contributions programs, policy, and corporate transformation. I seek opportunities where I can add value, and have led substantial projects. For example, I am currently coordinating the development of a Science, Technology, and Innovation Framework for the department and supporting the development of a Science Integrity Working Group. Over the course of 20••••19 I led a secretariat that coordinated NRCan\'s build up to greater use of advanced data analytics and Artificial Intelligence, including targeted training and corporate facilitation and communication. This was grown into the Digital Accelerator, now a model for empowering AI use recognized as a best practice in the public service. In other examples, I co-developed and launched a Micro Assignments pilot project, informally matching organizational needs to in-house skills, which was spun off to become permanent Treasury Board initiatives; and I helped to develop and launch cross-country engagement sessions on energy technology innovation.
