ABOUT JACK SMITH
Passionate software developer with experience in multiple languages including C++, Java/TypeScript, Java and C#. I have good knowledge of software design patterns, data structures and the standard algorithms used therein. I take pride in improving my programming skills through experimentation and collaboration with my team.Currently, working as part of a software development team at OnScale, I have contributed to multiple projects such as OnScale Solve - a fully cloud based CAE solver platform, in which I had extensive involvement in its development and deployment using a mix of Typescript and Angular / Angular Materials, the improvement and maintenance of the OnScale Enterprise user interface using C++ and Qt and OnScale Enterprise\'s structured / unstructured mesh visualisation system.Academic projects include the creation of a logistics game running on its own engine, an interactive physics simulation, and a game engine supporting a text-based game all using C++ and SDL. I have also created dynamic environments rendered in OpenGL with an emphasis on lighting. This focus on lighting transferred into my Honours project, where I studied the effects of different lighting conditions on player decision-making in Virtual Reality.
