Within the HSS MRI Laboratory, I help a team of clinical researchers better understand the factors which contribute to musculoskeletal injury development and post-operation healing. I primarily spend my time processing large sets of medical image data. By training convolutional neural networks in MATLAB on manual segmentations of hip and knee anatomies and writing MATLAB scripts to categorize subjects by image data (e.g. scan date, laterality, voxel size), I have efficiently analyzed large sets of radiograph and MR images. Additionally, I help manage research assistants (RAs), teaching them how to select and consent patients for IRB approved clinical research, perform MR scans on GE and Siemens 1.5/3T scanners, and process images using PACs, ITK-Snap, and MATLAB.
