ABOUT JACIN MATHEW
I am a Master of Public Policy candidate at the Hertie School in Berlin, with an academic background in Mass Communication and Journalism. My key interests lie in climate policy, governance, and the political economy of environmental decision-making. My recent work explores how both elite and mass politics influence climate action — with case studies ranging from stubble burning in India to the political responses to the Gadgil report in Kerala. I have also examined how different governments incorporate climate goals into sectoral policies, with a focus on countries like Denmark and the Netherlands. I take a multidisciplinary approach to public policy, combining qualitative analysis, data-driven methods, and a strong interest in institutional design and equity. I am currently developing my skills in data analysis, policy evaluation, and evidence-based research to contribute to impactful and inclusive climate and development policy.
