About Jaap G. van der Laan

Management professional with business, business development and consultancy experience in areas Energy, High Tech Systems & Materials (HTSM), including medical and isotope applications, and technologies towards sustainability.
Unique track record in industrial materials technology and component development, qualification and assessments for today's and future fusion and fission systems like AGR, ITER and tritium breeding technology, HTR, Gen4, use of accelerator devices, and research & isotope reactors (HFR Petten, PALLAS). Experience covers working in supply chains with public and private parties, utilities, industry and SME, R&D institutes and universities, and governmental agencies. Latest experience concerns joining the international fusion project ITER aimed at demonstration of the technological feasibility of fusion power. In this project the integration and coordination of at least 5 national programs of ITER member states (EU, JA, US, CN, KO, IN, US, RF, representing > 50% of world population) contributions to ITER exploitation is a key challenge. It concerns in particular the systems engineering of the so-called Test Blanket Systems in ITER, that are part of the development of fuel cycle technologies for future fusion power generation.
