ABOUT J. STEVEN ALEXANDER
Integrating 3D technology in medicine at LSUHSC-Shreveport. Research in my laboratory is dedicated to identifying novel mechanisms and therapies for neuro- and cardiovascular diseases with particular emphasis on inflammation, transplantation and microparticle links to Alzheimer\'s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, traumatic brain injury and aging. Technology development includes methods and patents related to the enhancement of early tissue engraftment in transplantation and suppression of delayed graft failure. My lab also studies glymphatic endothelial markers and their mechanistic contributions to these conditions. Several additional long standing and important areas of my labs research include mechanisms underlying lymphatic disturbances in inflammatory bowel disease, molecular approaches to normalize lymphovascular disease and influence of intestinal vascular structure on the gut microbiome. We are also currently participating in studies using stem cells in 3-D tissue printing for vascular, nervous and dental/oral maxillofacial reconstructions.
