ABOUT J. P. ZIEGLER
Currently a design engineer for RailPros, where my passion for rail, transportation, and greater civil engineering design guided me here. I am committed to being a part of the greater solution to our transportation system: efficient through smart design, greater quality of life through increases in mobility, and carbon independence through increases in alternative modes.I recently graduated from UC Berkeley with a Master\'s in Transportation Engineering, as I felt that it was the next step needed to jumpstart my success and knowledge within the industry. I became in tune with the current research of the area, especially regarding transit optimization and urbanist transportation and land use planning. I got to gain experience in practical knowledge as well, learning both Python and ArcGIS, and taking courses in Behavioral Modeling, Advanced Statistics, and Transportation Policy and Land Use Planning.Outside of work, I love to maintain an active lifestyle, with a twist of my own urbanism. I played club baseball all 5 years of school- at both UC Berkeley and CSULB- as a utility player and leader on the team. I\'ve also been a swing dancer since 2015, competing across the country casually by myself and with various teams, as well as performing whenever the opportunity arises. I also love taking as many transportation modes as much as possible in any possible way, if you consider skiing and surfing in the same vein of electric scooters and skateboards.
