ABOUT J. P. BECHTOLD
I have 26 years of experience in environmental services, with a specialty in surface water quality and aquatics. The first 10 years of my career were spent working in the oil sands sector, while also successfully completing projects for other industrial and municipal clients. For the last 12 to 14 years, I have been working almost exclusively in the mining sector, with my work experience originating from being an environmental consultant at Golder Associates Ltd (now WSP Golder). During my career, I have held a number of technical, leadership and client facing roles, which has provided me with a broad knowledge of the industry and a deep understanding of how to successfully build, direct and drive teams with an eye to quality and cost-effective product delivery. My leadership style can be characterized as coaching, and has been influenced by the writings of Patrick Lencioni (e.g, Three Signs of a Miserable Job), Geoff Colvin (Talent is Overrated) and Steve Farber (Greater than Yourself). I create and foster supportive environments with clear direction, accountability and delegated responsibilities. I am caring, compassionate, strategic and decisive.
