ABOUT INDIGO JONES
Currently, I am Head of Research at the Elinor Ostrom Research Unit (EORU), an independent laboratory that produces academic research in economics, business, and technology. At EORU, I lead the Paris Scale Unit, which includes a rotating team of ten to fifteen research assistants with diverse backgrounds in software development, engineering, and finance. My research agenda is all about scaling - why do some products, policies, and plans fail, while others scale? Answering this question has profound real-world implications for the public good. From providing healthcare to an entire nation, to educating an entire generation, to bringing innovations to an entire global market, the greatest challenges of our day can only be solved at scale. Partnering with public institutions and private businesses, the Paris Scale Unit applies recent theoretical advances in scaling research to real-world questions (Al-Ubaydli et al, 2019; List, 2022). Together, before scarce time and resources are spent, we can better predict whether ideas will spin out or scale up. I did my PhD in economics at the University of Orléans, supported by the FinTech Yomoni, doing applied research in behavioral economics, household finance, and wealth management. I have published my research in academic journals as well as in book chapters. More generally, I have experience in project management, computer programming, and big data analysis, and I have taught university-level classes in statistics, economics, FinTech, and artificial intelligence (AI). I am also bilingual English-French.
