The Arlington Film Festival offers a unique opportunity for cross-cultural education by promoting understanding of the many cultures represented in our town and beyond. We are registered in Arlington, Massachusetts as an organization dedicated to developing, promoting, and increasing multicultural awareness and understanding. The festival is a means for recognizing that such diversity enriches our community.As the festival’s founder and organizer, I am invested in it personally. Its inception dates back to my childhood in Colombia, where as a five-year-old I saw my first Chaplin film. Thoroughly enchanted, I mused how wonderful it would be to see many such films together one after another. At that time a “festival” of films was unheard of in Bogota; nonetheless, the dream of creating such a happening loomed large in my young mind.
