ABOUT GERARDO IXTEYO LOERA

I am a proud Chicano of the Mescalero Apache, Pueblo, and Pame First Nations, dedicated to elevating community, cultivating healing, building bridges, and addressing the ongoing genocide against Indigenous peoples of the Americas. With over 30 years of experience working in Indigenous communities—on tribal lands and in urban settings across the U.S. and Mexico—I specialize in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, communications, policy, and advocacy. I’ve influenced change at local, state, and federal levels, advancing access to equitable healthcare, protecting cultural resources, and mobilizing underserved communities. From 2019–2024, I led development and communications at the Indian Health Center of Santa Clara Valley, driving visibility and funding for culturally grounded health services. Before that, I oversaw program development for the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California’s Native TANF Program in Santa Clara and Santa Cruz Counties. Now, as an independent contractor and consultant, I offer guidance on nonprofit capacity building, tribal relations, cultural preservation, and education. My work includes curating high-impact fundraising events that have raised net profits by up to 300%. I’ve delivered over 100 speaking engagements on Indigenous healing, community building, and health equity, sharing insights that inspire action and resilience.Rooted in a vision of intergenerational wellness, I focus on preserving traditions, ending cycles of violence, and creating pathways for future generations to thrive. I am eager to partner with organizations and leaders committed to equity, cultural preservation, and transformative strategies that honor the voices of those who are too often silenced.Let’s connect and explore how we can collaborate to uplift communities and drive meaningful, lasting change.
