ABOUT IWAN PEPPERELL MENG
In the twelve years since completing my Master of Engineering degree I have experienced the full engineering life-cycle from concept design to in-service support.The BAE graduate scheme saw me complete 7 placements over two years across the submarine business, gaining valuable insight into how a large part of the enterprise operated, not just engineering. I then played a role of ever growing influence in a customer facing in-service support position, maintaining high standards throughout with an emphasis on communication, honesty and commitment.I became Chartered in 2015 and chose to move to Western Australia in search of new challenges which brought me to Austal Ships. With this move I broadened my experience into the surface ships domain with mechanical systems design and commissioning. I ended my time there with an opportunity to experience leading a design team, taking the design of a major project through the transition of lead engineer.I have been back in the UK working at Frazer-Nash Consultancy since mid-2018 within the design group. This has so far allowed me the opportunity to work on projects across multiple engineering sectors including defence, energy, rail, aerospace and maritime. I held an engineering lead role for 18 months in EDF’s NNB HPC design and build project. This has broadened my leadership experience, working with British and foreign engineers to drive quality design delivery.After two promotions in my time with Frazer-Nash, I am now a senior consultant leading the development of several opportunities with seven-figure potential, am responsible for the technical outputs of a number of projects and supporting junior engineers aw they develop toward Chartership.
