My background in the volunteer fire service, coupled with my education in engineering and years of code enforcement provides for a well-rounded perspective on the goals of fire protection and the means to achieve those goals.

1. Fire Marshal

   City of Gaithersburg

   Oct 1996 — Present

   Chief Fire Code Official for the City of Gaithersburg. Responsible for ensuring that the Maryland State Fire Code is enforced within the city limits. Duties include plans review of permit drawings for construction permits, site development permits, as well as fire protection systems permits. Also responsible for overseeing inspections staff, and conducting inspections of construction sites as part of the construction process, and inspections of existing structures when complaints are received. On an as-needed basis, consultations are conducted with design professionals for advice and interpretation on code-related design decisions.
