About David Yang
Creative, passionate engineer with a focus on innovation and optimization. Highly experienced in Additive Manufacturing processes, with a focus in the healthcare industry. Additive Manufacturing expert in process development for both plastics and metals 3D printing systems. Knowledgeable in both AM applications in the medical device and hospital areas.I am a skilled woodworker, and in my spare time I enjoy combining cutting edge technologies with the age old art of woodworking. The melding creates unique, one of a kind pieces that combines functionality and whimsicalness.Previously, I was contracted to Google by Stratasys, working as a dedicated on site technician for their additive manufacturing division. I operated independently as a direct customer liaison for break/fix cases, upgrades, software revisions, preventative maintenance, inventory replenishment and installation cases. I have worked at Stratasys as a Technical Support Specialist, charged with support customers worldwide on the use of PolyJet and FDM machines. In this role, I bolstered my knowledge in creation of novel 3D models and manipulation of existing 3D models using SolidWorks, OnShape, Rhino, Blender, Adobe Photoshop, and Materialise Magics for both internal and end customer use.I earned my Master\'s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Minnesota. During my tenure, I performed research on novel applications and methodologies for 3D printing cells, biomaterials, and tissue structures. From this research, I gained extensive experience in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics, specifically in terms of their effect in an air pressure based 3D bioprinting system.I have worked as a Technical Assistant in the lab of Dr. Robert Langer in the Department of Chemical Engineering, which is located in The David H. Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at MIT. The subgroup is headed by Dr. Ana Jaklenec. In this position, I performed research on the stabilization and delivery of oral polio vaccines (OPV ) and inactivated polio vaccines (IPV). This research I conducted led to a publication in Science.Graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst, completing a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, while also double majoring with Chemistry in May 2014.
