ABOUT ITAY RAVID
My main research interests are criminal law and procedure. I focus on the connections between criminal law, technology, race and society, with particular attention to the accountability of the criminal justice system in an era of digital democracy. Using a host of methodological approaches including observational data, surveys, and quantitative and qualitative content analysis, I wish to better understand the relationships between transparency, information, and the operation of the criminal justice system. I demonstrate how the dynamics between institutions, the public, and the flow of information shape public perceptions and affect criminal law and procedure – including racial inequalities in the criminal justice system, penal policy design, and the judicial decision-making process.
