About Istvan Molnar
Istvan Molnar MD is a hematologist and oncologist with experience in the pharmaceutical industry in medical affairs and early, mid and late stage oncology drug development that includes obtaining successful global marketing authorizations with Nexavar, Onivyde and Pylarify. Istvan has experience in both large pharma and biotech. He is currently self-employed and consulting. Previously served as chief medical officer of Lantheus Medical Imaging and of Fusion Pharmaceuticals. In prior years, Istvan was vice president of development at Merrimack Pharmaceuticals with responsibility for development of liposomal franchise molecules. Previous to Merrimack, Istvan worked at Bayer as his start in the pharmaceutical industry, initially as a deputy director in Global Medical Affairs and subsequently with increasing responsibilities as a Global Medical Lead for Nexavar then transitioning to Clinical Development projects on Nexavar and Xofigo. Before starting a career in industry, Istvan has practiced medicine in the United States as an internist and subsequently after completing his fellowship in Hematology and Oncology he worked in academia as an Assistant Professor at Wake Forest University in North Carolina focusing on the care of patients with hematological malignancies. Istvan earned his MD from Semmelweis Medical School in Budapest. He completed postgraduate training in internal medicine, hematology and oncology in the United States and board certified in these disciplines (the certifications are not current). Istvan Molnar is a Hungarian born US citizen with three children and lives in the greater Boston area.
