ABOUT ISSA BADO

Areas of expertise-Program management -International negotiations on climate change, biodiversity and combating desertification -Access to sustainable finance by developing countries -Legal aspects of artificial carbon sequestration -International environmental law. Resume: Issa Bado is specialised in the major issues relating to the fight against climate change, biodiversity preservation and combating desertification. Thanks to his experience in international negotiations on environment, he has coordinated several initiatives in support of francophone stakeholders, with a view to promoting their full participation in the adoption of strong decisions in favour of the environment. Issa has more than 15 years of experience in managing development projects in international and national levels. Hi is currently senior Environment and Climate Change Specialist at Institut de la Francophonie pour le development durable (IFDD), subsidiary body of the Organisation international de la Francophonie (OIF). He is involved in international negotiations meetings on climate change, biodiversity and desertification fighting. He supports several countries in their efforts to transform international commitments into programs and projects with an impact on the ground and their access to funds from international financing mechanisms such as the Green Climate Fund and the Adaptation Fund, by supporting national and local initiatives, capacity building, developing innovative tools, bridging the language divide, etc. He is researcher member of the Center for the Science of Biodiversity of Quebec (Canada), the Center for Studies in Economic Law (Canada), the Institute of Higher International Studies (Canada), the Interdisciplinary Center for Research on Africa and the Middle East (Canada) and the Center for International and Community Studies and Research (France).
