ABOUT ISRAEL ORTIZ
In my range of experiences, I have been fortunate enough to assume not only a BA in Political Science from the State University of New York at Fredonia, while also earning a MA with Distinction from Arizona State University in Social Justice and Human Rights. I am a certified Grant Writer as of May 2024, through Technical Writers HQ. I currently serve as an Independent Grant Writing Consultant for The Bettered Men Foundation in the Dallas Fort Worth area, while also working independently as a freelance grant writer. In addition to grant writing, I am also credited with the publication, “A R T from the S O U L”, which is available on Amazon. I have spent the past two years working as a Recruitment and Retention Assistant for Greece Central School District in the Department of Equity. Here I utilize skills such as research, critical thinking, social organizing, evidence based learning, grant writing, and culturally responsive education. I am skilled in work based practices such as the FranklinCovey’s 4 Disciplines of Execution and the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. As a Political Scientist and Social Justice expert, research is one of my most refined skills and thus leading me to serve as a research methods course assistant during my graduate program. I was honored by the National Leadership Honor Society, Omicron Delta Kappa with a lifetime membership in the ASU Circle. During my undergraduate years at Fredonia, I served as the Student Association President where I oversaw 170 clubs, students and approximately 1.8 million dollars. During my term I was at the helm of several successful campaigns and initiatives such as; the FREDwell Lounge - which won the SUNY Outstanding Student Affairs Program Award. This is in addition to initiatives like the Student Advisory Group on Campus Safety, Student Association Wellness Checks, the Student Association/Campus life club room, the Career Development Office Resumé and LinkedIn building workshop and much more. I was also fortunate enough to chair the Alma Mater Society and to be honored as the Marc Cohen Award winner with a lifetime membership of the Fredonia Alma Mater Society. In addition to a myriad of academic and service awards, I was most recently offered the opportunity to join Peaceful Schools at East Irondequoit CSD as the new Grant Coordinator.
