About Ismail Gomaa

I moved to the United States from Egypt – after the revolution – in 2012. I remember the rush I felt. I wanted to make my mark and I was exactly where I needed to be to do it. Growing up, I dreamt of making a positive impact on the world. I participated in school plays because I saw the joy it gave audience members when I played the wacky characters. When my dad took me to see The Green Mile in theaters when I was about 5 years old (don\'t tell my mom), I fell in love with films. A few years later when my mom gifted me a VHS copy of Fellowship of the Ring, I was mesmerized by the ability to convince me such a world exists through a bit of trickery and engineering. I burned out my copy within a few weeks, trying to dissect how every tiny effect was achieved. As I started to learn about physics and technology, I would experiment with home appliances, fascinated by the idea that I could put a large RC car\'s motor into a smaller one and make it zoom around the living room. This fascination grew over the years and I found myself fixing and enhancing the equipment around my family\'s homes. I would jerry-rig my mom\'s TV to get access to satellite channels, fix my aunt\'s microwave, and even rewire my dad\'s outlets. I did all this because I saw the joy it brought them and I realized that if I did things right, I could bring that same feeling to plenty more people. After a few years of gaining experience in various fields, I finally found the opportunity to marry both my passions when I accepted a project engineering position at Hasbro on the Transformers brand. A chance to be an Engineer on a huge brand that provides toys and blockbuster movies to kids (and adults!) around the world? Sign me up! After some diversions off the path I had planned out, I was finally doing something I love. Shortly after, I was offered a dream role doing the same job on the Marvel brand and my inner geek finally felt accomplished. Entertainment is where my heart is and I intend to implement the engineering and management skills I\'ve learned throughout the years to give the world that entertainment they deserve, proving myself along the way.
