ABOUT ISIS MARTINEZ

Hi everyone! My name is Isis and I’m a current senior at UCSB, studying mathematics with a concentration in high school teaching. Through my degree, I have learned about effective teaching and learning strategies. I have also challenged myself to delve into pure math, involving the development of proofs related to number theories and other abstract math concepts. Because of my degree, as well as my experience in retail management and academic tutoring, I have found that I have a deep passion for helping others succeed. I am highly altruistic, strongly valuing my relationships with others, whether that be family, friends, or colleagues. Furthermore, I would describe myself as a self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic, as I have pursued a rigorous major and held impactful leadership positions throughout my life. As of now, I am involved with UCSB’s Human Resources (HR) Club, where I am becoming more acquainted with labor laws and employment standards. I joined this organization because I became interested in HR after working as a retail supervisor, where I enjoyed being Head Trainer, welcoming new associates to the company, and pushing for talent development and efficiency. I hold a particular interest in combining my analytical and interpersonal skills. As such, I have begun exploring positions related to budget analysis, auditing, and talent acquisition and development. I’d love to connect with others who have similar career interests!
