Mr Isidor Marcel SENE is a Career diplomat, Minister-Counsellor at the Embassy of Senegal in Washington DC since February 2021. Prior to this apointment, He was member of the Cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Senegalese Abroad as Technical Advisor dealing with political issues in Africa, Asia Pacific and the Middle East, from April 2018 to February 2021. He was also First Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Senegal to the United Nations in New York from January 2012 to January 2018 where he was in charge of Disarmament and Peace and Security issues (First Committee). He is also in charge of the coordination of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM). While his country tenure at the Security Council as non-permanent member for 20••••17, Mr Sene was in charge of Non-proliferation issues and represent Senegal to the Committee establish by resolution 17••••06) on Democratic People Republic of Korea (DPRK), 15••••04) Committee on Weapons of mass Destruction (WMD) and the implementation of resolution 22••••15) on Iran’s Nuclear Programme. Among his others tasks at the Security Council, East Africa region issues (Country situation and Sanctions) including Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, Eritrea and Djibouti. He was the Chair assistant at the Committee establish by resolution 22••••15) on South Sudan. He also represent Senegal at the 15••••05) Committee on Sudan and 751/1907 Committee on Somalia and Eritrea. Before NYC, Mr SENE was Counsellor at the Directorate of International Organizations (DOI) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Senegal where he was in charge of Environmental and Economic issues from 2009 to 2011. He was a member of the Committee of Sustainable Development of Senegal as the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as the Climate Change Committee. Mr SENE studied Diplomacy and International Relations at the National School of Administration (ENA) of the Republic of Senegal and since 2007, hold a PhD in Geography, Climatology (Climate Change) from Cheikh Anta DIOP University of Dakar.
