About Ishmal S.

I’m a recent graduate of Macalester College, where I earned my B.A. in Biology with a Biochemistry emphasis and a minor in Studio Arts. As a first-generation, low-income student who grew up between Karachi and the U.S, I’ve always been drawn to the spaces where science, design, and community meet.I’ve worked across research, public health, and clinical settings, from developing peptidomimetics at NYU’s Arora Lab to leading campus-wide harm-reduction and wellness campaigns as a Health Promotion Assistant. I’ve also spent time in patient-facing roles in hospital and dental environments, where I learned how much small systems (and small moments) can shape a person’s care experience.What connects all my work is a deep curiosity about how people, data, and design can come together to create more equitable, human-centered healthcare systems. I’m currently exploring opportunities in healthcare strategy, clinical operations, research, and consulting roles that allow me to translate scientific insight into systems that make care more accessible, efficient, and empathetic.Outside of work, I love art, poetry, dance, and creating things that bring people together, whether that’s a community event, a print, or a shared idea.Feel free to reach out at i••••••••@gmail.com
