Award winning engineer.Associate in Arup’s Specialist Technology, Analytics and Research Department helping find solutions to Arup’s most challenging technical problems. As an expert in Timber Engineering, Existing Buildings/Forensics, Structural Dynamics and Advanced Analysis, I\'m experienced in managing technically complex projects.I have worked on the forensic engineering / assessment / repair of several in-place, precast reinforced concrete and steel structures with highly nonstandard details outside the bounds of standard codes of practice, where necessary relying on first principles engineering. I am one of the authors of the guide on \'Assessing higher-risk buildings under the Building Safety Act\' published by the IStructE.I have worked on a number of mass timber projects across the globe including several commercial, residential and modular timber buildings including Haut. I am one of Arup\'s global timber experts and am a member of Eurocode 5 (Timber) Working Group 3 involved in drafting clauses related to floor vibration, buckling and structural analysis for the next version of the code. Was one of the authors updating the Swedish Wood CLT handbook for the UK market.Extensive experience in vibration design, mitigation and measurement. Including crowd vibration, lab vibration design, Isolation design, tuned mass damper design etc. I have worked on very varied structures from a number of high spec science labs requiring very low levels of structural vibration, to timber floors all the way to bridges needing tuned mass dampers.Passionate about knowledge sharing, within Arup I deliver training to other engineers on timber, buckling, structural dynamics and existing buildings. I also lecture on Timber engineering at Imperial College London, UCL, University of Cambridge and at industry events.Awarded one the IStructE’s 4 MSc research grants in 2014 for my thesis on Timber buildings. Of these 4 was awarded a prize for the best poster presentation.Winner of the IStructE’s Young Structural Engineering Professional Award 2022.
