In this role, I manage over $5M across multiple academic and clinical departments, providing end-to-end support for departmental budget forecasting, rolling forecasts, quarterly reporting, and variance analysis. I partner closely with faculty, HR, and operations teams to ensure budgets are accurate, compliant, and aligned with departmental priorities.A big part of my work is translating numbers into insights. I’ve used Excel and Power BI to build models and dashboards that help leaders quickly understand headcount, payroll splits, and spending trends. These tools have made forecasting more reliable and reduced manual reporting time.I also handle the details behind the scenes — from monthly close activities (reconciliations, payroll adjustments, reclassifications) to ensuring compliance with UMN’s ChartField structures. What I enjoy most is bridging the gap between finance and operations, so decision-makers always have a clear picture of where we stand and where we’re headed.
