This summer, I\'m interning with the Lopez Island School District to support strategic community engagement during a critical budget crisis which the district is currently facing. My work focuses on helping to analyze the current financial situation (creating graphs and visuals using Excel to make information more accessible to the Budget Committee and the public), expanding international student outreach, strengthening student-led service programs, and using communications tools, including social media and community events, to boost enrollment and mobilize local support. I\'m grateful for the opportunity to contribute to efforts that help sustain my island’s K–12 public school, which serves as a vital center for education, culture, and connection for the island community.
