ABOUT ISABELLA SANTARPIA
I am a junior pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Boston University, driven by a passion for medical device innovation and bio-inspired robotics. My interests lie at the intersection of engineering, biology, and sustainability, where I apply mechanical design principles to solve complex challenges in healthcare and beyond.At the Foot & Ankle Research and Innovation Lab (FARIL) at Mass General, I focus on orthopedic biomechanics and implant design. At the Morphable Biorobotics Lab at Boston University, I explore soft and hybrid robotic systems inspired by nature. My projects involve developing scalable and energy-efficient electromagnetic actuators and propulsion strategies for flying and underwater robots. These efforts aim to improve energy efficiency, adaptability, and sustainability in robotic systems.I aspire to continue bridging biomechanics and robotics to design technologies that enhance quality of life.
