About Isabella Segalovich

I’m a media producer, educational content creator, and author based in Philadelphia. Working as a remote corporate graphic designer during the COVID-19 pandemic, I started making videos in the evenings about art history, design, and politics. I was delighted those videos reached tens of thousands of people within weeks. A few years later, I have over 300k followers across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. My videos led to positions as a professor and as a media producer for independent art publication, Hyperallergic, in addition to collaborations with major museums, features on a number of podcasts, lecture spots, and quotations in magazines and newspapers including Teen Vogue, the Smithsonian Magazine, and Barron\'s. It also led to the start of a career as an author: I am now writing a book for the Royal Institute of British Architects on ornament and architecture, which is set to be published in 2026. I\'ve also published reviews, features, and news articles in Hyperallergic and PRINT magazine. My career revolves around accessibility of information. I grew up going to museums with my mother, an investigative journalist who grew up working class, and was shaped through her showing me both the powerful potential in art to make the world a better place - while also showing me all of the ways that it\'s been closed off from most of the world. Whether I\'m reporting on politics, architecture, or quilts, I am laser focused on telling a story that everyone can understand. In doing so, I can (and have) reached and engaged millions of people with explanations of topics they might have otherwise found too complicated, too depressing, too boring, and, sometimes, too taboo. There is no greater joy to me than receiving a comment or a message that says,\"I never thought about this movie from that angle,\" or,\"I didn\'t know that,\" or,(perhaps my favorite)\"You\'ve given me a new rabbit hole to go down!\" For me, telling stories is about helping others understand the world around them. Sometimes, that looks like recognizing the beauty in everyday life, from the ornamental patterns in brick architecture to the art form of graffiti. Other times, it\'s strengthening our grasp on difficult news on complex political situations, so the world looks a little less mysterious and so we can feel more powerful to make a positive change. If you\'re interested in collaborating, don\'t hesitate to contact me through my website, here, or via email, at i••••••••@gmail.com.
