About Isabella Morizio
I am a third-year undergraduate student at Northeastern University pursuing the study of Mechanical Engineering. I am projected to graduate in 2025 with the ambition of focusing my engineering career in the aerospace industry. I have a focus on global education that started with a study abroad experience in Rome, Italy the fall of 2017. I then participated in a three-week cultural immersion program in the Kingdom of Bhutan where I studied renewable energy technology and politics of sustainability. I then completed a four-week program throughout the country of Norway where I studied engineering computation and design methods for clean energy systems. I began my engineering education at Northeastern University where I first participated in the 2021 NASA Moon to Mars Ice Prospecting Challenge. For this project, I worked with my team to design a system that simulated the drilling, melting, extracting, and filtration of sub-surface ice on Mars. I focused on testing operations where I designed, prototyped, and fabricated several mechanisms. Towards the conclusion of the project, I contributed to the main portions of the system\'s technical paper that is in the process of being published. I have continued work on other NASA-sponsored projects including designing self-separation mechanisms for a cube satellite. Last July I completed my first six-month co-op at Greensight, a drone tech startup company based in Boston, MA. At Greensight I gained a wide array of experience including specialties in optics, UAV technology, UAV piloting, electrical systems, controls, and CAD design. I look forward to continuing my professional experience as an intern at SpaceX this July.
