ABOUT ISABELLA FARMER

Hello! My name is Isabella Farmer, and I am a senior nursing student at Texas A&M University College of Nursing. I will be graduating with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing in August 2025! Career Goals & Objectives: My short-term goal is to begin my nursing career on a pediatric medical-surgical unit where I can strengthen my clinical foundation, critical thinking, and communication skills. Long-term, I hope to earn a pediatric specialty certification (CPN), precept future nursing students, and pursue leadership roles that allow me to advocate for children and families. My passion for pediatrics has been shaped by experiences at Texas Children’s Hospital, working as a Patient Care Technician in high-acuity settings, and volunteering at Camp Periwinkle. These moments affirmed my belief in the power of presence and connection in a child’s healing. I seek a nurse residency that will help me grow and deliver compassionate, family-centered care. I value lifelong learning and have pursued professional development through research presentations, leadership in student organizations, and engagement with pediatric opportunities. Lifelong learning to me means always remaining curious, adaptable, and committed to excellence in my practice. Mission Statement: As a Texas A&M Nursing Student, I have embraced the core values of respect, leadership, selfless service, and integrity, principles that now define my mission as a future pediatric nurse. My mission is to create a safe healing space for every child I care for, and to support families as active participants in their care. Whether it has been holding a scared toddler’s hand, explaining a procedure, or sitting beside a parent in silence, I am committed to being fully present for those I serve. I strive to be a dependable and energetic team member who contributes positively to the unit and the lives of my patients. Nursing Philosophy: The foundation of my nursing philosophy is the belief that healing in pediatrics is not just about medication or monitoring, but forming trust, creating a safe space, and offering empathy in every interaction. I believe pediatric nurses must combine diligent clinical judgment with compassion. My experience volunteering at Camp Periwinkle and caring for children in both clinical and personal settings has shown me that even small moments, like laughter during a hard day or sitting with a scared child, can make a lasting impact. I aim to be the kind of nurse who brings a sense of steadiness during uncertainty, comfort during fear, and light into challenging moments.
