I founded a branch of the Global Surgery Student Alliance (GSSA) at Rice University with the aim of providing a resource for students interested in global surgery and creating opportunities for involvement in the field. Through our branch, we facilitate knowledge-sharing, mentorship, and practical experiences in collaboration with professionals and healthcare institutions. Our goal is to inspire and empower students to make a positive impact on global healthcare through surgical interventions.Year 1:Our chapter hosted the yearly Journal Club for the whole international organization, where we presented the paper \"Academic Output in Global Surgery after the Lancet Commission on Global Surgery: A Scoping Review\" by Fowler et al.Year 2:Our chapter has grown to 75 members, and we\'ve hosted speakers who are professionals in global surgery.
