ABOUT ISABEL HENDERSON
Isabel Henderson is a healthcare professional with over 25 years of diversified experience in the health care industry as a senior executive, educator and consultant. A strong proponent of Integrated Care, she is an active member of the International Foundation for Integrated Care. Isabel is currently the Executive Director, Special Projects with AHS, where she provides strategic leadership on priority initiatives. Prior to this role, she served for 14 years as the Senior Operating Officer of the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital, one of Canada’s leading academic tertiary rehabilitation facilities. During her tenure at the Glenrose, she also contributed to the community as a Trustee on the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation Board. In addition, Isabel has dedicated a decade of service as Chair of the CapitalCare Management Advisory Committee, guiding oversight and advancing quality in continuing care. In 2014, at the request of the Minister of Health, Isabel co-authored a comprehensive report on Continuing Care Concerns in Alberta. Together with other medical, health technology and academic organizations from Ontario and Alberta, in 2018 she was invited to Beijing to share her expertise at the Canadian Healthy Aging Business Mission. In 2023 she was appointed as an Executive Coach through the Telfer School of Management, University of Ottawa. Since 2016 she has also supported AHS Disaster Management in various leadership roles. Isabel is a graduate of both Mount Allison University and the University of Toronto and has completed additional post-graduate studies at the University of Alberta (Faculty of Business) and the Banff School of Management. Isabel is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor within the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine, University of Alberta and a member of the Honorary Editorial Board of the Journal of Healthcare Leadership. She has been a national/international surveyor with Accreditation Canada since 2008. Isabel’s achievements have been recognized through numerous local and national awards, including the Capital Health REACH Award for Leadership (2005), 3M Canadian Health Care Quality Team Award (2012), the CCHL Medtronic Innovation Award for Health Care Leadership in Canada (2012), the AHS President’s Excellence Award for Distinguished Service (2017), and the “Opening Doors for Autism” Award (2017). She was most recently honoured with the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal in 2023.
