About Isaac J. Rondon
I am a senior research leader with extensive experience in discovery and development of biologics in the areas of immunology, inflammation, oncology and metabolic diseases, with a demonstrated ability to improve or develop novel platforms and efficient workflows. I am adept at motivating and guiding teams to overcome challenges and meet timelines, moving programs from preclinical to manufacture and into the clinic. I have held senior research positions in several companies. At Gritstone bio, I worked on the discovery, development and engineering of T-cell engagers targeting peptide-HLAs present in solid tumors. At Pfizer Inc, I set up the discovery and development of biologics in San Francisco CTI, worked in numerous projects, some of which have moved into the clinic, and formed part of several Leadership committees. At Xoma Corp, I created the Genetic Engineering department and developed a novel display system for phage, yeast and mammalian cells. I designed and engineered their first naive antibody phage display library used in the discovery of antibodies for internal programs, and constructed phage display libraries of different formats for out-licensing, which brought in over $43 million in revenues to Xoma Corp. in the first 2 years. At Catalyst Biosciences and Kalobios, I contributed to the development of their technology platforms engineering proteases and humanizing antibodies. At Dyax, I engineered immune and semi-synthetic antibody libraries and assisted in the technology transfer to collaborators. I was also the project lead for the discovery and engineering of high affinity peptides and antibodies in various programs. I received my PhD in Pharmacology from Tulane Medical School studying Erythropoietin gene regulation and RNA binding proteins and I did my post-doctoral research on intrabodies (intracellular antibodies for gene therapy) at Harvard Medical School.
