OFFICE 52 Architecture is an award-winning interdisciplinary design studio based in Portland, Oregon. Founded in 2010, and guided by Isaac Campbell and Michelle LaFoe, our portfolio of notable projects includes our competition winning design for Scott Hall, a new interdisciplinary teaching and research building for the College of Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. Housing the Scott Institute for Energy Innovation, this LEED Gold building creates an innovative new center on campus for engineering and science disciplines. Other notable projects include the recently completed Tykeson Hall for the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Oregon. This LEED Gold project creates a new model for student success in higher education, integrating programs for advising, career, and academic support with a broad-based curriculum rooted in the liberal arts.Our studio has a wide-ranging approach to architecture with projects that span scale and type. We believe in the power of big ideas to transform the built environment and create better outcomes for our clients. Our designs draw from their place and the local environment, and each project is driven by a guiding concept that embodies our clients’ goals, program, culture, and values. This concept is not immutable, and it sometime evolves, but it nonetheless helps guide the process from beginning to end and from the largest decisions to the details. We create a powerful and collaborative process with our clients and construction partners to ensure that our projects meet their budget, schedule, and performance goals. We seek inventive and transformative spatial models that allow people to work, explore and collaborate in new ways. We believe that architecture is a language of space and materials interwoven with art and technology that is revealed in the clarity, craftsmanship, and beauty of the work.
