ABOUT ISAAC MCQUILLEN

As a student at Santa Clara University, and through my experience as a Thermal Systems Research Assistant at the National Solar Observatory, I discovered my passion for and interest in thermal-fluidic systems and processes. I followed up on this interest by obtaining my Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, with an emphasis in thermal-fluids, from Stanford University. Shortly after, I found a great match at Lucid Motors for my technical interest and personal passion related to clean energy and sustainability. I joined the company just when we were beginning to pursue development of the Lucid Air sedan as a serious, production vehicle. I designed, analyzed, and tested many of the thermal systems components for the Air, learning an immense amount about the components, thermal system, and also other vehicle systems along the way. I helped drive vehicle level testing and controls optimization for various use cases, and probably had the most fun working on topics related to charging. In the end, the Air ended up winning Motortrend’s Car of the Year award, a great recognition of all of our dedication and hard work. I have continued to seek out and take on additional responsibility, architecting, analyzing, and beginning layouts and sourcing for Lucid’s next Gen vehicle platforms. As my career continues to develop I plan to stay dedicated to topics related to sustainability and clean energy, tackling new and tough challenges along the way!
