I cover education, energy, and jobs that will come out of new emerging energy economies that can empower Latinos. I also write about Latino financial literacy, including homeownership, businesses, and entrepreneurship. I explore and address issues in education, health, culture, civic engagement, and policy to empower Latino communities. I manage marketing, organizing logistics, and community outreach for the yearly Sacramento Latino Book & Family Festival, which attracts thousands of attendees, over 50 Latino authors, and more than 120 community booths. In 2023, we hosted civil rights leader Dolores Huerta and NASA Astronaut Jose Hernandez as keynote speakers.

ABOUT IRVIS OROZCO
I am a seasoned multi-media storyteller and journalist with extensive experience in public policy and public relations. Over the years, I have contributed to major outlets such as NBC News, MSNBC, CNBC and Telemundo as an analyst and writer. Currently, I serve as co-editor for The Sacramento Valley Informador Bilingual Magazine. I also coordinate the Sacramento Latino Book and Family Festival for Empowering Latino Futures. My coverage spans a range of topics including business, energy, technology, electric vehicles, and emerging markets. My journalistic portfolio also includes in-depth reporting on Congress, healthcare, labor, California affairs, immigration, trade, USMCA, and USA/Mexico relations. I am bilingual, fluent in both English and Spanish, which has allowed me to effectively communicate and engage with diverse audiences. My political writing and training were honed at Hispanic News Link in Washington D.C, where I covered Congressional activities, California politics, and Latino culture. Additionally, I have held the role of Communications Manager for the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement, where I managed press conferences, wrote blogs, crafted social media posts, and developed newsletters. Previously, I worked with the Latino Policy Coalition on both state and national levels, focusing on voter turnout, education outreach, and community organizing around Latino policy issues. My experience also includes mass media messaging for government agencies such as the California Student Aid Commission and the California Museum (formerly the Institute of Unity), where my educational media stories and videos are featured in the museum\'s exhibitions. I have actively organized with labor unions and the California Endowment Building Healthy Communities initiative, leading significant policy changes in California and Washington D.C. in areas such as the economy, immigration, health, and education policy. My journey into public policy began in 2002 when I was accepted into the California Center for Civic Participation\'s Public Policy Youth Health Leadership Program as a teen. This program provided me with the opportunity to engage with state legislators and learn about health advocacy and the public policy process, eventually leading to my involvement and knowledge in the public policy sector of California.
