I am a former Principal Commissioner of Income Tax with over 31 years of service in the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), with extensive experience in direct taxation, income-tax law, corporate taxation, international taxation, transfer pricing, and tax administration. I retired from the Income Tax Department in February 2020 after serving at multiple levels and leading complex tax jurisdictions across India.During my career, I handled personal income tax, corporate and international taxation matters, including transfer pricing cases, cross-border transactions, high-value assessments, litigation support, enforcement actions, and compliance management. I was closely involved in tax policy implementation, administrative reforms, and governance, and in mentoring officers across functional verticals of the Income-tax Department.I have been associated with tax training and capacity building for over two decades. Since 2006, I have served as Guest Faculty at the National Academy of Direct Taxes (NADT), training IRS officers across India. I have also been Guest Faculty for international tax training programs for officers of the Inland Revenue Department, Sri Lanka, and was deputed twice by the CBDT to the Maldives Revenue Authority as a Resource Person to train officials on transfer pricing and business profit taxation. My expertise has been recognized by the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).I am the author of “Master Guide to Corporate Taxation” and “Transfer Pricing in India: Principles and Practice,” and a regular contributor to leading national publications. My analysis and expert commentary have been featured by The Economic Times, Times of India, India Today, Mint, LiveMint, CNBC TV-18, News18, Republic TV, Business Today, and other major media platforms.Since December 2023, I have been engaged as a tax evangelist with Prosperr.io Pvt. Ltd. In 2020, I also created the YouTube channel “TaxGyan by O P Yadav,” dedicated to simplifying income-tax laws for the public.My objective is to present complex tax issues in a clear, practical manner, support informed taxpayer compliance, and contribute meaningfully to tax policy discussions and public awareness.
