ABOUT IRENE JIANG
I\'m an LA-based Chinese-American writer, photographer, and filmmaker with a passion for telling outsider stories that explore familial relationships under pressure. I write about real-world issues like fascism and climate change in science-fiction settings. My hour-long pilot “Torchlight” — Wong Kar Wai meets \"Andor\" — was a Shore Scripts Semifinalist in 2022. Previously, I wrote about food, retail, and racial justice issues for Business Insider. In 2017, I received a Fulbright Creative Arts Grant to film and live with a circus in Casablanca for a year, where I became famous for being an Asian girl who spoke fluent Moroccan Arabic. I also speaks Formal Arabic, Chinese, and French, and am learning Spanish and Egyptian Arabic. I\'m seeking my first opportunity in a writers’ room for a science-fiction television show.
