About Ira M. Hendon

LEARN TIPS TO MEET YOUR BUDGET AND MILESTONE TARGETS ON KEY PROJECTSOne of the greatest challenges Leadership Teams face is finding out too late that a major project is in trouble. As a result, the organization reluctantly must live with being over-budget and missing deadlines. Being over budget often steals funding from future or other in-flight projects. Missing deadlines delays the expected benefit defined in the project\'s business case, or from other programs that have a dependency on the project\'s completion.Unfortunately, these conditions exist too frequently in organizations of all sizes, all industries, and across the globe. So, what are some things Leadership Teams can do today to minimize these costly challenges? 1⃣ Do not discourage open and honest communications with your Team Leads. If your Team Leads are afraid to communicate issues, the Leadership Team will not be able to help fix them. You cannot fix it if you do not know about it. Unfixed issues often result in projects being over-budget and/or missing deadlines. Remember, issues are like Accounts Receivable. They get worse with age.2⃣ Do not ignore teachable moments with your Team Leads. When your Team Leads present to you a project issue, ask the following questions: 1) When did you first become aware of the issue? 2) What have you done to try and solve the issue(s)? 3) Why did your actions not work? and, 4) How can I help?3⃣ Do not assume the entire team is clear on your expectations. Take a little extra time upfront to ensure your entire team is clear on the project\'s expected outcome(s). These outcomes include due dates; other project and process dependencies, quality objectives, and the expected benefits from the key stakeholders. Having this information helps the project team make better decisions. If the expectations are not clear, there is a high probability you will get a bad surprise near the end of the project. If your key projects face any of these challenges, let’s chat. Whether or not we decide to do business together, I am confident our conversation will be full of insights that will help you minimize, going over budget and/or missing deadlines on your key project(s).Here is a link to my calendar https://calendly.com/iramhendon/15min Please schedule a time that works best for you.+ 18•••••••22 | i•••@hgrp.co
