ABOUT IRA SUSSMAN
10+ years at RLI Insurance. Experienced Vice President of Claims with a demonstrated history of working in the legal and insurance industry. Former practicing attorney representing clients in the construction industry such as General Contractors; Sub-Contractors; Architects and Engineers in construction defect claims, and and pursuit and defense of mechanics liens. Also providing contract review and negotiations for various trades. At RLI, I managed the Surety Claims Department and provided product support to our underwriters including contract and bond review and provided input and drafting on General Indemnity Agreements. I managed the most complex surety claims involving contract and commercial bonds both nationally and internationally. In 2008, I helped RLI establish a product that provides insurance coverage for design professionals and until 2017 managed a group of claim professionals that handled professional liability claims for design professionals as well as miscellaneous professional liability claims. My overall experience provides me with a unique perspective on managing large complex surety losses. I have a great understanding of the interplay between the various insurers and sureties in a complex construction or commercial claim.
