ABOUT IRA RASHBAUM
As the Chief of Tension Myoneural Syndrome (TMS) and Mind-Body Medicine at NYU Langone Medical Center, I lead a multidisciplinary team of experts in diagnosing and treating chronic pain conditions that are caused or influenced by psychological factors. I have been practicing at NYU Langone, one of the nation\'s top 10 rehabilitation medicine programs, since 1993 and have been a Clinical Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine since 2005.I have a unique and extensive background in the field of mind-body pain disorders, having studied and worked for over 20 years with Dr. John E. Sarno, the pioneer of the TMS approach. I have more direct clinical and research exposure to Dr. Sarno than any other TMS physician in the world. I also served as the Medical Director of Stroke Rehabilitation at NYU Langone from 2005 to 2016, where I oversaw the delivery of cutting-edge and comprehensive care for stroke survivors. My mission is to help patients overcome their pain and disability by addressing the underlying psychological and emotional issues that affect their physical health.
