ABOUT IRA BRODY

Ira Brody came out of retirement in to assume the position of the first Chief Marketing Officer the National Kidney Registry and then the Alliance for Paired Kidney Donation. Brody wanted to venture into areas where he could explore and challenge laws and ethics hampering the acquisition of kidneys. Brody has said, “ESRD is not cancer, we know the answer… it is transplant! We also know that every healthy human being can potentially set off a chain that can save many lives… then why the problem?” Brody answers with a quote from Pogo, “We have met the enemy and it is us.” Brody volunteered to be altruistic kidney donor, “I could not work on a problem if my personal actions were not part of the solution”. Brody co-founded Kidneys for Communities aka Kidneys in Common, a living kidney donor organization based on the fact that 96% of all living kidney donors knew or identified with the recipient. Before retiring, he was a managing partner of Brody & Katz. Brody & Katz implemented cause related and relationship marketing programs for healthcare organizations such as: J&J; Pfizer; Roche; Novartis; GlaxoSmithKline; AstraZeneca; Abbott; Bayer; Bristol-Myers Squibb and Eli Lilly; American Cancer Society; American Heart Association; Arthritis Foundation; Epilepsy Institute; the Skin Cancer Foundation. Brody challenged FDA regulations regarding generics on titrated medications and fought for the rights of physicians regarding the government monitoring of drugs they were prescribing. He helped to remove regulations that did not permit pharmaceutical companies to do consumer advertising. As Sr. VP of SONY Entertainments Cause Related Marketing division he instituted point of purchase partnerships by leveraging product donations predicated on reaching targeted markets. Ira helped to develop the marketing plan that transformed the aircraft carrier Intrepid into America’s Sea, Air, and Space Museum. He played a major role on Peter Uberoth’s, L.A. Olympic planning team setting the standard for all Olympics to come.
