About Iqra Pervaiz
I am a molecular biologist with a passion for neuroscience and experience in pre-clinical CNS disease modeling, assay development, biomarker discovery, loss of function screening, and developing human-relevant improved stem cell-based in-vitro models. My doctoral research focuses on understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms by which the disruption of the blood-brain barrier occurs in GLUT1 deficiency syndrome. To address this, I utilize induced pluripotent stem cells to model the healthy and diseased in vitro. I am well versed in conveying complex information to expert and non-expert audiences resulting in 6 oral, and 7 poster presentations, including several best oral presentation awards. Ability to write at all levels: brief abstracts, to book-length, manuscripts resulting in 5 publications (4 manuscripts and 1 book chapter) and several in the pipeline. I hold a track record of achievement and recipient of 24 international, national, and local honors and recognition including the prestigious Phi Kappa Phi Dissertation Fellowship.
