Developing, maintaining, and optimizing core internal and public-facing applications used by the Indiana General Assembly lawmakers and their staff. Some of my responsibilities include- Implementing new features and identifying and fixing bugs in an integrated set of 20+ applications tailored to meet the business requirements of legislators and their staff, supporting the entire legislative workflow from bill filing to voting- Revamping the Indiana General Assembly website using JavaScript/React development stack, identifying and addressing bottlenecks, and making improvements that lead to notably faster speeds and an optimized user experience- Designing several REST APIs as part of the redesign of the Indiana General Assembly website using AWS API Gateway and Lambda- Assisting in migrating an on-site revision-based database to AWS Aurora Postgres by establishing an Extract/Transfer/Load (ETL) process using Python and Apache Airflow- Generated and automated reports using Python/Django that handle large datasets to present the necessary information in a single report, helping legislators access all the details they need in one place-Troubleshooting issues in legacy applications, such as Word Perfect Macros, using the Delphi Programming language- Leveraging version control tools like Git to proficiently manage the codebase, rigorously monitor changes, and ensure code quality through comprehensive code reviews- Collaborating with business analysts and developers to discuss the optimization of old and new applications- Engaging with cross-functional teams in an Agile Development environment, employing Scrum methodologies for efficient project management.
