About Pankaj Singh

As a data scientist in Azure Core, I have been solving cool problems in our cloud for a decade now. This includes software regression detection, fraud detection and building support for caching cloud resources. In support space, I have built solutions to automatically resolve support cases using deep learning based sequence modeling. Currently I am working on VM recommendation space in Azure Control Plane. I am also adept at engineering as I was a software engineer in my previous life where I worked on Bing, Internet Explorer and Platform. I did MS in Computational Finance from UW where I built financial models using R. Prior to that I earned my MBA at Foster.

   Compute Recommendation Service(CRS): When a customer requests for a VM in certain region & zone, we provide capacity based guidance directing them to a place where reliability is higher. We have enabled zone outage detection so that customers are guided away from stressed zones and regions. Zonal outage detection is built by running Azure Data Factory pipeline over health data stored in Azure Data Explorer. CRS is part of Flexible Compute team under Azure Control Plane.Azure AntiFraud : Designed detection mechanisms to mitigate payment and account fraud by implementing velocity analysis on resource operations and regional transactions. My focus was to detect fraud for Azure Batch and Azure Container Instance(ACI) services by writing Kusto functions that can detect abnormal usage patterns.Container Cache : Leverage inventory management principles to build container cache. This allowed Azure to serve containers quickly to our customers by serving them from the cache pools.Tools & Technologies : Jupyter, Kubernetes, Azure Container Instance, Python, C#, Azure Data Explorer(ADX), CosmosDb, Azure Data Factory(ADF), PowerBI
